IIT JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATION (JEE) 2010

The most respected seven Indian institute of technology(IITs) established through an Act of Parliament at Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Mumbai and Roorkee along with Institute of Technology -BHU, Varanasi and Indian School of Mines University, Dhanbad offer admissions to the students based on their performance in an entrance examination known as JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATION (JEE). More than 3,00,000 candidates, seeking admission to these institutes in a number of engineering, technological and scientific discipline, appear this exam at various centers across the country. The approximate seats available in all the IITS is 5000 whereas IT-BHU, Varanasi; and ISM, Dhanbad have 850 seats to offer.

ELIGIBILITY FOR IIT JEE 2010

Candidates who have either passed qualifying examinations in 2010 or who are appearing in the qualifying exams in the 2010 are eligible too appear in the JEE 2010, however a candidate cannot appear more than twice in consecutive years and he should not have taken admission paying full fees in any of the IITs, IT-BHU, Varanasi or ISMU, Dhanbad, through earlier JEE.Qualifying exams refers to a no. of examinations listed below.
1. The final examination of 10+2 organized by any recognized Central/State Board such as Central Board of Secondary Education, Indian School Certificate Examination etc.
2. Intermediate level examination conducted by a recognized board or University.
3. Final Examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
4. Final Examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
5. General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
6. High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University.
7. H.S.C. Vocational Examination.
8. Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects.
9. 3 or 4-year Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education.

The age requirement of the candidates:

The candidates whose date of birth is on or after 01, 1984 can appear in the JEE- 2009 for GE and OBC categories whereas for SC, ST, and PD categories one can appear if he is born after October 01, 1979.

Physical Fitness:
The candidates are allowed to pursue their course after they are considered physically fit and they are supposed to submit a physical fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner.

IIT JEE 2010 IMPORTANT DATES:

The completed JEE application form should reach at JEE office not later than December 24, 2008 for the candidate willing to appear in the JEE examination on April 2010.The first exam will start at 9:00 A.M IST and the second exam at 2:00 P.M IST. The results will be declared on May 2010 and the subsequent Medical Examination and Counseling for Qualified PD Candidates will be on June 2010. The counseling for OBC/SC/ST Candidates will be on June 2010 similarly for GE/DS Candidates between June 2010 and for preparatory Courses on July , 2010.It is also important to note that The Architecture / Design Aptitude Test will be held on June 2010.

Exam pattern for IIT JEE 2010:
This exam comprises of two objective type question papers each one of which is divided into three sections physics, chemistry and mathematics. The negative marking also applies and the student is supposed to give it in an ORS sheet.

IIT JEE 2010 How to apply :
There are two ways to submit the application for an aspiring candidate
1) Offline: One can buy application form from any of the designated branch of banks on paying Rs. 1000/ for all the candidates other than SC/ST/PD and on paying Rs. 500/ for all the SC/ST/PD and the female candidates. An information Brochure will be also given to the candidates along with the application form containing details regarding application procedure, syllabus, examination centers and all the information required to proceed ahead.
2) Online: One can also submit the application form online. All he needs to do is visit any of the website given below and follow the instructions scrupulously.
